There will be three more meetings with different focuses in the coming days, namely on Wednesday and Thursday of next week (April 15 and 16) and on the following Monday (April 20). Following the meeting on April 9, the FIA issued a detailed statement, the full text of which follows:
“The FIA today convened the first of a series of meetings to discuss possible changes to the Formula 1 rules for 2026. Today’s meeting between the FIA and technical experts from the teams and power unit manufacturers covered a wide range of topics as part of the natural evolution of Formula 1’s technical and sporting regulations for 2026.”
“There was general agreement that while the races so far have been exciting, there is a commitment to adjust some aspects of the regulations in the area of energy management. A constructive dialogue took place on difficult topics, especially given the competitive nature of those involved.”
“At the beginning of the year, all parties had agreed that this series of meetings should take place after the first three races of the 2026 Formula 1 season. The schedule was set so that sufficient technical data could be collected before the discussions.”

“As part of this round of joint discussions, further meetings are planned over the next two weeks. A meeting on the sporting regulations will take place on April 15, where all changes in Section B required to implement the technical changes will be discussed.”
“The next technical meeting will take place on April 16, where the points discussed today will be followed up and new topics addressed. A high-level meeting with representatives of all stakeholders is planned for April 20. This is expected to review the preferred options jointly proposed by the technical teams and seek a consensus on the way forward.”
“The 2026 regulations were developed and agreed in close cooperation with the teams, the automobile manufacturers, the power unit manufacturers, the commercial rights holder and the FIA, with all parties at the negotiating table. In this spirit of cooperation, possible changes are now being discussed. All changes to the regulations are subject to the approval process of the FIA World Council.”
