New engines

Earlier it was said that the Ferrari drivers would only get their new engine (and thus the upgrade) tomorrow. In fact, the new power unit was already in the car in FP1.

Also outside the Scuderia, several drivers have received new power unit parts. Mercedes, for example, has introduced a new battery to address the recent problems.

Experimental rear wing

Since we just talked about the updates this weekend: McLaren has a new rear wing that they want to test in today’s practice. It is their own version of Ferrari’s “Macarena wing”.

However, they will not use it in the race; it is only for testing purposes in Spielberg.

Formula 2: Best time for Goethe

We have some good news from a German perspective from Formula 2. Oliver Goethe just set the best time in practice. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that he can also deliver in qualifying and especially in the races on Saturday and Sunday.

So far, it has been a season to forget for the former Red Bull junior with only one points finish.

Updates

The FIA has now published the list of all updates for this weekend. Among the top teams, Red Bull brought the largest package to the home race. They registered a total of seven new parts.

In the midfield, we see Audi with a larger package also consisting of seven changes to the car. And at the very back of the field, Cadillac even reported ten new parts.
