(Motorsport-Total.com) – Formula 1 is speculating about the future of Max Verstappen: Since the British Grand Prix, rumors have been circulating again that the four-time world champion could leave Red Bull as early as the upcoming season and switch to McLaren, possibly as a teammate of world champion Lando Norris.

However, this would mean that Oscar Piastri would lose his McLaren seat, even though his contract still runs “at least until 2028.” Accordingly, the Australian reacts calmly to the current speculations surrounding the Red Bull driver.
“I have seen and heard some of it,” says Piastri ahead of the Belgian Grand Prix. “But for me, it is very clear: I feel very comfortable where I am and with my situation. Zak Brown, Andrea Stella, and the entire team have been great during this time and have given me a lot of support.”
“Nothing has changed for me,” the McLaren driver makes it clear that he is satisfied with his situation. “Obviously, Max feels that he is not currently in a particularly good situation or is looking for other opportunities.”

The Australian is currently sixth in the drivers’ championship, but behind his teammate Lando Norris, who has 15 points more on his account. However, Piastri does not doubt his future at McLaren – even if there have indeed been talks between Verstappen and McLaren boss Zak Brown.
“Honestly, it doesn’t really concern me,” the 25-year-old dismisses a further inquiry. “I think it is important that people know how things stand and what the driver market looks like. Any information you can get is good.”
“I trust the team here, trust what has been told to me, and the trust that is placed in me. That is ultimately all that matters to me,” Piastri emphasizes confidently. When directly asked if he will also drive for McLaren in 2027, the Australian answers: “Yes. That is a point of contention, but yes.”
