(Motorsport-Total.com) – The Hungarian Grand Prix once again delivered decent ratings for Formula 1 on German-language television. A look at the numbers shows: while Sky confirmed its previous season level, ORF reached an above-average number of viewers.

At the race on Sunday, Sky had 562,000 TV viewers plus another 135,000 streams. With the TV reach, the pay-TV channel was practically exactly at its current season average of 561,500 viewers. The market share was 5.4 percent.
The qualifying on Saturday reached 230,000 TV viewers and 68,000 streaming users with a market share of 2.7 percent.
Compared to previous Hungarian Grands Prix, Sky is thus in the usual range. The result was slightly above the previous year’s figure of 2024 but remained behind the particularly strong reach of some other editions of the past five years. For example, in 2025, 703,000 viewers tuned in, in 2023 even 855,000.
Free-TV channel RTL showed only the qualifying in Germany. The live broadcast was followed by 519,000 viewers. This corresponded to a market share of 6.1 percent among the total audience as well as 6.2 percent among 14- to 59-year-olds and 7.7 percent in the target group of 14- to 49-year-olds.

Viewer increase at ORF in Austria
In Austria, interest was even greater. The public broadcaster ORF reached 632,000 viewers at the race and a market share of 47 percent. Thus, the broadcast was significantly above the previous season average of 559,300 viewers. Even the qualifying had impressed with 285,000 viewers and a market share of 33 percent.
Also in historical comparison, the result ranks very high. ORF clearly surpassed its own Hungarian figure from 2024 and was also at a high level compared to the ServusTV broadcasts of recent years. Only individual editions of past years achieved even higher reach, including 2022 with 744,000 viewers.
Who broadcasts the next Formula 1 race in Zandvoort
At the first Grand Prix after the Formula 1 summer break in Zandvoort, pay-TV channel Sky reports live from all sessions as usual. Free-TV channel RTL also shows qualifying and the race live. In Austria, all sessions can be seen on ServusTV, in Switzerland qualifying, sprint, and Grand Prix run live on SRF.
