(Motorsport-Total.com) – The Formula 1 team Williams and Komatsu have announced the extension of their multi-year partnership. No, this is not about Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu, but about the namesake construction machinery manufacturer, who has been one of the racing team’s most important sponsors and partners since 2024.

In addition to the existing projects for promoting young talent and employee retention, the agreement will also include direct technical cooperation in the future. As part of the renewed agreement, Komatsu will take on the role of Official Hydraulic Innovation Partner.
The group is thus building on a historic connection: Komatsu was already involved in the development of components during Williams’ world championship titles in 1996 and 1997. In the future, the company’s know-how will be used in technical projects – including in the field of hydraulics.
Another focus remains the promotion of young talent. The Engineering Academy program launched in 2024 to train young engineers will continue. In addition, from 2026 Komatsu will expand its support to the training of young racing drivers: the company logo will also be seen on the vehicles of the Williams Driver Academy in the future.
For the year 2027, the start of a new development program is also planned. This is intended to promote the exchange of engineering knowledge, technical expertise, and leadership practices between both organizations.

The sponsor’s brand logo will continue to be present on the race cars of Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon, in the garages, on the team clothing, and in the fan zones.
“After three successful seasons together and a relationship that goes back to our last world championship cars, it is fantastic to expand our partnership with Komatsu as Williams approaches its 50th anniversary,” says team principal James Vowles.
“The relationship with Komatsu is something very special and embodies our approach to working with partners who share our values, believe in our path, and can help achieve success on and off the track. We look forward to taking the partnership to the next level from 2027.”
