Christian Danner, however, is sure that such statements are not the whole truth. “Among all those involved who are now desperately trying to reach a compromise, the absolute one hundred percent conviction has long prevailed that what they have is useless,” Danner told sport.de.
This means: The expert assumes that internally, the new regulations are discussed much more negatively than is admitted publicly. “This will lead to Formula 1 definitely having a simplification, a streamlining in its next engine program,” Danner announces.
“There, the focus will again be, and must be, on what motorsport is all about. Namely: The fastest and the one who gives the most throttle is the one who should be ahead in the end,” explains the former Formula 1 driver.
Glock: Not much can be changed anymore
Timo Glock, another expert, sees it similarly, explaining to Sky: “My opinion on this is that these regulations simply do not allow the scope to design the race again as we know it from the past.”

Even with the announced changes, “it will continue to be about battery management,” says the long-time Formula 1 driver, who emphasizes: “I still believe the fundamental problem will remain the same.”

“And I’m sure Max Verstappen won’t be really happy with the rule changes either,” adds Glock. The four-time world champion is one of the biggest critics of the new rules and has repeatedly stated that Formula 1 is not much fun for him right now.
A new engine regulation is not expected in Formula 1 until 2031. And experts do not assume that anything fundamental will change in the current situation until then.
