(Motorsport-Total.com) – According to Alexander Albon and James Vowles, Williams can dream of a 2030 World Championship. “James is a realist, so he’s not trying to build any castles in the air,” explains the 30-year-old before the Monaco weekend.

Specifically, it is the answer to a question in the official press conference. After all, team boss Vowles recently emphasized that Williams should be fighting for world championships from 2030. When asked whether this is a realistic goal, Albon replies:
“I think 2030 is [a realistic goal]. James is a realist, so he’s not trying to build any castles in the air”
“Of course, we would be happy if that happened a bit faster. We have certainly noticed that we are a bit further behind this year than we would like. Perhaps that has set us back a step, but I still believe him when he says that.”
The subsequent question from Sky UK commentator David Croft refers to Albon’s career longevity. So far, Albon has completed 95 races for Williams, making him now joint leader with Nigel Mansell. When asked whether Albon could imagine another 95 Grand Prix weekends until 2030, the former Red Bull driver’s answer is:

“Yes, absolutely. For me, it’s about progress. I want to see progress in the team. I think we’ve shown that over the last four years, because every year it’s gotten a little better and better.”
“This year we might be experiencing a setback in terms of performance, but I see changes in the team and it looks like it’s going in the right direction.”
“I feel like I’ve been part of this team from the beginning, even before [James’s appointment]. I’ve put so much effort and work into [the team], so I would love to see it through to the end.”
Albon has not yet won a Grand Prix, and only teammate Carlos Sainz has achieved podium finishes for Williams so far. The team is currently in eighth place in the Constructors’ Championship.
