(Motorsport-Total.com) – Adrian Newey is expected to reappear in the Formula 1 paddock at the Monaco Grand Prix. The Aston Martin team boss has not been seen at the track since the Australian Grand Prix.

Chief Trackside Officer Mike Krack announced the boss’s comeback in the media briefing before the Monaco weekend: “I think we will see him this weekend,” were his words.
The Daily Mail had reported on pneumonia, after numerous rumors about a stress-related illness had circulated. “We do not comment on the personal affairs of our team members,” was the team’s statement.
“[The comeback] is very fitting, as he has a lot of experience here,” explains Krack. “He has won many races here, so I think he can give us one or two tips that will help us move forward. So we are looking forward to it.”
The fact that Newey is not present at every Formula 1 Grand Prix is not new. In recent years, the engineer has only been seen at the track from time to time. Since the end of 2025, Newey has not only been a shareholder of the team but also team principal.

No Updates in Monaco
A major technical update is not planned for Aston Martin in Monaco. Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll are expected to start with new parts at the earliest in summer. Stroll had explicitly named the Belgian Grand Prix as the timing for the next update in Canada.
Nevertheless, Shintaro Orihara, chief engineer at Honda, emphasizes before the Monaco weekend: “We have worked on drivability on the test bench to improve torque accuracy.”
Nevertheless, no turnaround is expected at the Monaco Grand Prix. In the Constructors’ Championship, Aston Martin is currently in eleventh and last place without points.
