(Motorsport-Total.com) – Red Bull has found a successor for Gianpiero Lambiase, who will leave the team in the near future and move to McLaren. The racing team has secured the services of long-time Aston Martin engineer Tom McCullough, who will join Red Bull at the beginning of the upcoming season.

“We are very pleased to welcome Tom to the team at the beginning of 2027 and look forward to the wealth of experience and expertise he will bring to this role,” the team said in a statement.
McCullough was employed by Aston Martin for many years and was already on board when the racing team was still called Force India. He worked as chief race engineer for four years before being appointed “Performance Director” – a position he held until the end of the 2024 season.
As part of a team restructuring at the beginning of 2025, McCullough’s duties were taken over by former team principal Mike Krack. McCullough was transferred to a senior role in non-F1 projects at Aston Martin Performance Technologies, a position he will now vacate.

The 50-year-old, who began his career at chassis manufacturer Reynard, has also held positions at Sauber and Williams in the past.
At Red Bull, he will take over Lambiase’s position as head of the racing department (“Head of Racing”) when the latter moves to McLaren to take on the role of Chief Racing Officer there.
Currently, Lambiase holds a dual role at Red Bull. In addition to his duties as Head of Racing, he continues to serve as Max Verstappen’s race engineer. For this job, Red Bull was able to convince Verstappen’s former performance engineer Tom Hart to stay. He had already decided to move to Williams but recently canceled this decision.
