(Motorsport-Total.com) – About a year ago, Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton parted with his entire car collection: “Nowadays, I am more interested in art,” the Brit said at the time. “If I were to get a car, it would be an F40.” And now Hamilton has truly fulfilled that dream.

A few days ago, the Ferrari driver posted the first pictures of his new gem on social media. “My very own F40,” wrote the 41-year-old. “This is my absolute dream car – and it has been for as long as I can remember.”
“Even as a child, I dreamed of owning one. When I started at Ferrari last year, it was important to me to arrive on my first day in Maranello with this car. It means that much to me.” In fact, he posed in front of an F40 at that time.
Now Hamilton owns his own example of the Italian supercar. “These cars are works of art and incredibly rare,” says the Ferrari driver. “So when I discovered this example – completely dusty after having been in a garage for over thirty years – I knew immediately: I have to get this one.”

However, the Formula 1 star initially brought his new gem to Maranello. There, the engineers and mechanics of the Italian sports car manufacturer worked for weeks to bring the F40 back to life. “A huge thank you to everyone who contributed to this project,” said Hamilton.
“With this, a dream of mine has truly come true.” Until last year, the Brit owned an extensive and multi-million euro car collection, including apparently a Pagani Zonda 760 LH, a Mercedes-AMG Project One, as well as a Ferrari LaFerrari and a 1966 Shelby Cobra 427.
But apparently none of these cars could excite Hamilton as much as the Ferrari F40, which the seven-time world champion probably will not give up again anytime soon. “I can’t wait to share more about it with you.”
