Cadillac unveils “extensive upgrade package” for Spielberg

(Motorsport-Total.com) – Cadillac has announced that it will bring another “extensive upgrade package” for the race weekend in Austria. The new US team started as expected at the back of the grid in Formula 1 but has gradually improved performance-wise thanks to continuous updates on the MAC-26.

This included a revised rear wing and exhaust in Monaco, followed by further improvements to the rear wing and cooling in Barcelona, where Sergio Perez qualified just 1.9 seconds behind the fastest Q1 time and left the Aston Martins 1.2 seconds behind.

Cadillac is maintaining this development pace for the race at the Red Bull Ring before heading to Silverstone the following week.

“The races now follow in quick succession, and managing these logistical demands while simultaneously increasing our competitiveness is one of the central challenges at this stage of the season,” explains team principal Graeme Lowdon.

“However, we are pleased to be able to bring another extensive upgrade package this weekend. With new sidepods and a new floor, this is a significant amount of work, and we hope that with this we can continue our course and gradually approach the midfield,” says Lowdon.

“We do not underestimate the challenges in Austria, but we are constantly learning and I am confident that we can make progress again this weekend,” emphasizes the team principal.

Sergio Perez narrowly missed the points in a turbulent race in Monaco due to a post-race penalty before a more difficult weekend in Spain followed. However, the Mexican is convinced that the new parts will push Cadillac further up the order.

“It feels like we are improving from race to race, and we learned a lot of valuable things when we saw the checkered flag in Barcelona,” says Perez.

“The development rate is very good, everyone in the factory is working hard to bring new parts to the track, and the upgrade this weekend will hopefully enable the next step,” says the Mexican.
