(Motorsport-Total.com) – For the Formula 1 drivers, the traditional summer break begins after the Hungarian Grand Prix. Carlos Sainz will spend it on the Balearic Islands as in previous years, combining relaxation with targeted preparation for the final sprint of the season.

The Williams driver looks back on a difficult race weekend in Budapest. Sainz finished only 18th and crossed the finish line two laps down. In addition, the Spaniard received a five-second penalty after a collision with Oscar Piastri while lapping.
In the drivers’ standings, the 31-year-old is 15th with six points, just ahead of his teammate Alex Albon. Williams also dropped to ninth place in the constructors’ standings after the Hungary weekend.
Summer in Mallorca as a family tradition
In the podcast “The Fast And The Curious”, Sainz explained that he will spend the Formula 1 break again with his family.
“Normally, I spend my summer in the Balearic Islands,” says the Spaniard. “I will spend most of the time in Mallorca. That is where my parents’ house is for the summer. My whole family is there for almost a month. They settle in there, and I join for a few weeks just to spend time with the people I love.”

Training before the season restart
Despite the relaxation, Sainz also has a structured fitness program on the schedule this year. Together with friends, he uses the last days of the summer break to prepare for the remaining races.
“Sometimes my group of friends joins towards the end, and we do a kind of training camp before I fly to Zandvoort,” reveals Sainz. “Then I go to Ibiza and Menorca, just by boat, to visit other friends I have on the islands. Honestly, I have been doing this for 30 years, and that is all I do in the summer.”
After the summer break, the Formula 1 season will continue at the end of August with the Dutch Grand Prix in Zandvoort. Williams plans to introduce more extensive car upgrades during the rest of the season, which are expected to be introduced around the Azerbaijan Grand Prix.
