(Motorsport-Total.com) – Former Formula 1 driver Daniel Ricciardo has been out of the business for about a year and a half. But is he now drawn back to motorsport? In the podcast “Speed Street”, Ricciardo said: “Never say never. But currently, I really enjoy not being in competition. I enjoy the little things in life and not having to constantly be on a stage.”

“Do I know how I will feel in three or five years? No,” said Ricciardo. He added: If he should one day decide on a comeback in racing, then “definitely more for the fun of it and not because I want to win a title.”
He no longer needs to prove anything to himself, Ricciardo said. Reason: “It’s a balancing act, because of course you want to have goals. That gives you a purpose in the morning, drives you to go to the gym and push yourself. But sometimes it can also take away your joy.”

Ricciardo admits: The fun was gone in 2024 at Racing Bulls
It was exactly this fun that was lost when Ricciardo last competed in Formula 1 in 2024. During this phase, he asked himself: “Why do I actually love this?” His exit from Racing Bulls during the then ongoing season was therefore used to “gain some distance” from motorsport for a while.
But now the passion is back. Ricciardo: “I think visiting other races has helped me rebuild a healthy relationship with it.” The Australian is now working, among other things, as a brand ambassador for Ford, the engine partner of Red Bull.
