During a Warner Bros. presentation at CinemaCon, Margot Robbie, who will star alongside Bradley Cooper, explained that the heist movie is set around the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix.

“Before Danny Ocean ever set foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows – his parents,” she said. “You’ll see them in their prime, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix in our new film.”

In addition to his starring role, Cooper will write and direct the screenplay. While the film does not yet have a title, its release is expected in June 2027.

At this point, there isn’t much more information about the production, but excitement is already growing among fans. One fan commented on Reddit: “It would be funny if they decided to repeat the 2004 diamond sponsorship,” referring to the promotional stunt for “Ocean’s 12” at the 2004 Monaco Grand Prix.

Jaguar Racing, later Red Bull, then partnered with Steinmetz to embed two huge diamonds in the nose of their Formula 1 cars, driven by Mark Webber and Christian Klien. Each diamond was worth approximately £200,000 at the time.

Will the Diamond Story Come?

Klien crashed into the guardrails on the first lap of the race. His wreck was lifted by a crane and left at the side of the track until the end of the race. When the Jaguar mechanics were able to recover the car, the diamond was gone.

“This could be so good,” another fan posted on X, while someone else wrote: “Margot Robbie and Bradley Cooper in an Ocean’s prequel? Set in Monaco 1962? This already feels legendary.”

Other, skeptical film fans, however, wondered what the purpose of the new film would be. “Danny Ocean’s parents – isn’t that a bit far-fetched? When did the last Ocean’s film even come out, at least ten years ago?” one wrote, and someone else also posted: “Nobody asked for that.”
