Stella: Ferrari is still faster
Yesterday, McLaren finished ahead of Ferrari in the race. According to Andrea Stella, however, this is merely a snapshot. “I believe we were on par with Ferrari here,” the team principal says.
But: “If you look at the overlays from the race, you can see that Ferrari still has a certain advantage in the corners. Their car can definitely generate more grip than ours.”
“I think we benefit from a powertrain that is more competitive overall,” explains the team principal. But in the corners, Ferrari still has the better car.
In addition, McLaren benefited from the fact that there was no graining during the weekend in Japan. Stella believes they are also more susceptible to this than Ferrari or Mercedes.
Meaning: In Miami, things could look completely different again.
