Both Alpines in the points
After the zero score in Spielberg, both Alpine drivers made it back into the top 10 yesterday. However, the result does not reflect the true pace, as both drivers benefited from the chaotic final phase.
“Finally, after a difficult weekend for the team, we have a reason to smile again,” says Franco Colapinto after P9. He admits, however, that they had “a bit of luck.”
Also in the duel against his teammate, who finished tenth. Actually, Pierre Gasly was ahead of Colapinto, but he explains: “During our pit stop, there was a system malfunction that cost us a lot of time and ultimately our position on the track.”
“Ultimately, we just tried to limit the damage, and one point is our reward,” says Gasly.

Vasseur: Mercedes still ahead
The Ferrari team principal does not want to overrate Leclerc’s win yesterday. “Honestly, I think Mercedes still has an advantage,” says Vasseur, who therefore does not want to look at the championship standings.
“Let’s focus on Belgium. Let’s have a good race,” he emphasizes, reminding that Mercedes was also ahead in Silverstone in the sprint and qualifying.
One must therefore be “realistic” and acknowledge that Mercedes still has “a small advantage” in pure pace. But yesterday’s race showed that they can still be beaten.
Fastest man
Kimi Antonelli set the fastest lap for the sixth time yesterday in the ninth race of the season. Max Verstappen, Lewis Hamilton, and Lando Norris each have one. This clearly puts the Italian in the lead in this ranking.

New record
Silverstone was able to celebrate a record this weekend. A total of 564,000 fans came to the track – more than ever before at a Formula 1 race anywhere in the world. Not bad!

Slept badly?

Russell self-critical: Must improve
He finished P2 yesterday, but the Brit knows that normally he would have lost points to Kimi Antonelli in the championship again. “The feeling was good, but the lap times were slow,” he says about his race.
“I still have difficulties understanding this car,” he admits and explains: “If I want to fight for the championship, my performances have to improve. I have to get better.”
“We are currently having a close duel with Ferrari, so it’s not just about Kimi and me. Lewis [Hamilton] is still very close,” he says looking at the championship. Therefore, he urgently needs to improve.
