ADUO: Red Bull has the best engine

This is a small surprise: It’s not Mercedes that has the best internal combustion engine in the field – but Red Bull. This is not yet official, but Lewis Hamilton has already revealed on Sky what the FIA’s ADUO evaluation has shown.

We’ve made some inquiries, and indeed it seems that Red Bull has built the best internal combustion engine. All other manufacturers are therefore allowed to upgrade thanks to ADUO.

Mercedes will receive one upgrade, Ferrari probably even two. And Audi and Honda are even further behind. The FIA is expected to officially announce this today or in the coming days.

Mercedes surprised by its own pace

Before the weekend, many experts saw Ferrari as the favorite for Monaco. In reality, however, the Scuderia was completely chanceless against Kimi Antonelli in the Mercedes, especially on race Sunday.

“We were surprised by this speed ourselves,” admits Toto Wolff, saying about Antonelli: “He drove lap times that were two seconds faster than the McLarens’ and a good second faster than Ferrari’s.”

“Why that was the case on a track that we wouldn’t have considered our strength before the weekend, I don’t know,” he shrugs. Ultimately, Mercedes remains undefeated this year.

Grand Slam

Antonelli secured the “Grand Slam” at the Monaco weekend, meaning pole position, fastest lap, and race win, without giving up the lead even once.

This makes Antonelli by far the youngest Formula 1 driver to have achieved this so far. The previous record was held by Max Verstappen, who was 23 years, 9 months, and 4 days old in Spielberg in 2021.

Antonelli was now almost exactly four years younger! His fastest lap can be seen again in the video here:
