Problem at Audi too?
The timing monitor shows that Gabriel Bortoleto is also back in the garage. So it looks like a problem at Audi again. Nico Hülkenberg was already unable to start in Melbourne.
Grid position remains empty
Regardless of whether Norris can still start from the pit lane, his sixth grid position remains empty. The other drivers behind do not move up. The question now is whether the world champion can participate in the race at all.
For McLaren, it would otherwise be the second race in a row with only one car after Australia.

Pit lane open
40 minutes to go until the start and the pit lane is now opening. The drivers now have ten minutes to make their way to the starting grid. We saw with Oscar Piastri in Melbourne that this is not a given …
Let’s keep our fingers crossed that everyone makes it to the starting grid today.
Problem at McLaren?
Work was just being done on Lando Norris’s car. The team stated: “We had identified a problem in the electronics area, which is why we removed the floor and checked a number of components.”
“We assume that we have fixed the problem, and the team is now in the final preparations for the race,” says McLaren. We will of course keep an eye on the situation.
Russell: No worries for the race
Yesterday in Q3, the Mercedes rolled to a stop once at the beginning. Today before the race, Russell reveals that the problem has been found. “It’s nothing that worries us for the future,” he clarifies.
“It was nothing big. It was a small mistake that caused a big fiasco and several other problems,” said Russell. For today’s race, however, that should no longer be a problem.
