Formula 1 drivers with the most seasons for one team
Statistics favor Norris
Statistically, the winner today can only be Lando Norris. Since Zandvoort returned to the Formula 1 calendar in 2021, the race has always(!) been won from pole position.
In 2021, 2022, and 2023 Max Verstappen achieved this, in 2024 Norris, 2025 Oscar Piastri, and in the sprint yesterday 2026 George Russell. Will this streak continue today in the seventh consecutive race?
Domenicali on Verstappen: “Great news”
In Formula 1, Max Verstappen’s contract extension is welcomed with pleasure. “The news that Max will stay with Red Bull for the next few years is the icing on the cake for this weekend,” said Stefano Domenicali.
The Formula 1 boss explains: “This is great news. I am very proud and happy because Max is a world champion, a world-class person who embodies a great personality in the sport, and I cannot imagine Formula 1 without him.”
The four-time world champion of the top class will remain loyal at least until 2030.

Honda: New engine runs stable
Both Aston Martin drivers were eliminated yesterday in Q1. So the new Honda engine does not perform miracles, but Shintaro Orihara emphasizes: “Today we completed the sprint race and qualifying with the engine of the new specification without any reliability issues.”
That is already positive. Orihara also knows: “We have to ensure that the engine delivers exactly what the driver needs at the right time. We have already taken some steps today, but there is still a lot to do to give the drivers the necessary confidence.”
“That is our main focus in the short and medium term,” says the Japanese. Previously, Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll had stated that drivability is still a big problem with the new engine.
Direct comparison
In the sprint, George Russell was still on pole, but yesterday in qualifying Lando Norris had the edge. Where exactly McLaren secured the pole, you can watch again here in the direct comparison:
