Isack Hadjar with special helmet design – after funny trophy accident last year

(Motorsport-Total.com) – Last year, Isack Hadjar celebrated his biggest Formula 1 success to date at the Dutch Grand Prix: The then Racing Bulls driver stood on the podium in Zandvoort in third place – and destroyed his porcelain trophy during the subsequent team photo.

As a reminder of this curious moment, which then went viral on social networks, Hadjar is racing this season with a special helmet design: On the back is an illustration of the broken trophy, along with a cartoon showing the Frenchman’s reaction to the incident.

The ceramic manufacturer Royal Delft confirmed at the time that a new trophy would be made, although Hadjar told Sky Sports F1 that he definitely wanted to keep the broken trophy. “Honestly, man, I don’t even know where my trophy is, my broken trophy,” the Frenchman said at the time.

“I mean, the team probably takes care of it, I guess. I left it in good hands. I’m getting a new one, I know that. But I want my broken one. Where is the broken one? That’s the question. Because the new one, we don’t care about it, because it wasn’t part of the Grand Prix history.”

“I want the broken one because it’s part of my journey to the podium,” Hadjar said clearly after his first and to date only podium (he had to give up the Monaco podium in 2026) at the time. “The new one doesn’t smell like alcohol, like after the champagne and all that stuff.”

Because Formula 1 is visiting Zandvoort for the last time for now this year, not only Hadjar but also teammate Max Verstappen is racing with a special helmet design. It is a tribute to the traditional Dutch Delftware with its blue and white color scheme and elaborate floral motifs.

In addition, there are special racing suits that Hadjar and local hero Verstappen will wear next weekend in Zandvoort (here is the full schedule). And the chances that the Frenchman will get back on the podium this season are at least better than last year.
