(Motorsport-Total.com) – Kimi Antonelli celebrated his eighth Formula 1 victory at the Spanish Grand Prix. However, it was not only the success of the Mercedes driver that attracted attention afterwards, but also a special moment with his father Marco.

After Antonelli had parked his Mercedes at the Madring following the Grand Prix, he first went to his team to celebrate the victory. Among the cheering team members, his father Marco was already waiting for his son with a red carnation. When he handed it to him, the two laughed and embraced warmly.
Antonelli then continued his usual routines before the award ceremony. However, the brief moment between father and son did not go unnoticed by fans and spread rapidly on social media.

Especially the red carnation caused reactions. “That this little red carnation was from Papanelli. Stop it, this is so precious,” writes a user on X.

Another fan thinks: “This is the most Italian thing ever and I love it! Andiamo Kimi!” Another already calls Antonelli “the new GOAT”.
Antonelli extends championship lead
Sportingly, things also went according to plan for Antonelli in Madrid. With his eighth win of the season, the Mercedes driver secured another 25 points and thus extended his lead in the Drivers’ World Championship to 81 points over his teammate George Russell. Russell is currently in second place with 211 points.
Despite his clear lead, Antonelli does not want to think about his first world championship title yet. “Well, that’s exactly what I don’t want to do,” the Italian explained after the race. “I want to continue race by race, keep applying pressure, deliver and enjoy the whole time. I want to try to give my best in every race. Then at the end of the year, we’ll see where we stand.”
The next opportunity for this will be at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix. The 15th Grand Prix of the Formula 1 season will take place from September 24 to 26 at the Baku City Circuit.
