The TV Situation of Formula 1 in Germany
Only Sky shows everything live
Pay-TV broadcaster Sky exclusively shows the complete 2026 Formula 1 season in Germany. As usual, all practice sessions, qualifying, sprint, and the Grand Prix will be shown live with German commentary. And this will remain the case beyond 2026: Sky’s Formula 1 contract runs until the end of 2027.
Fans have two options to follow Formula 1 live on Sky: Those who subscribe to the Sky Sport package can watch Formula 1 (and other sports such as the MotoGP World Championship or IndyCar) classically on television. Those who prefer streaming are in good hands with the Sky WOW offer and can stream all Formula 1 content to their devices.

The Formula 1 sessions on Sky are commented by Sascha Roos. He is usually joined by former Formula 1 driver Ralf Schumacher, who was replaced by his former racing driver colleague Timo Glock at some races in 2025. The presenter of the Sky broadcasts is Peter Hardenacke, and Sandra Baumgartner acts as a reporter in the Formula 1 paddock, gathering opinions.
RTL will again show individual races on free-to-air TV
In 2025, RTL broadcast seven Grands Prix as well as various qualifying sessions and sprints on free-to-air TV with a sub-license from Sky. In 2026, RTL will broadcast five races. The Monaco Grand Prix kicked things off. The following will be shown: Spa-Francorchamps (Belgium), Zandvoort (Netherlands), Madrid (Spain), and Las Vegas (USA).
In Great Britain (July 4) and Singapore (October 10), the sprint race will be available on free-to-air TV, while at the three events in Hungary (July 25), Italy (September 5), and Austin (October 24), at least qualifying will be broadcast on RTL.
For all other race weekends, either qualifying or the sprint will be offered on the RTL+ streaming platform, but then as a broadcast of the original stream from Sky Germany. All races will be shown on the pay-TV channel as usual.
The RTL team recently consisted of long-time participants: Heiko Wasser and former Formula 1 driver Christian Danner commented, Kai Ebel and Alessa-Luisa Naujoks provided additional voices as pit reporters. Florian König and Laura Papendick shared the moderation of the broadcasts. Former Formula 1 team principal Günther Steiner also joined them as an expert.

The TV Situation of Formula 1 in Austria
In Austria, ORF and ServusTV have shared the broadcasting of Formula 1 races equally since 2021. This will remain the case in the new contract period until the end of 2026: ORF and ServusTV will each show half of the season’s races live in Austria, with ServusTV remaining the official licensee of Formula 1 and ORF coming into play via a sub-license.

In 2026, ServusTV will kick off the season – unlike in 2025. Subsequently, the two Austrian broadcasters will alternate, with ORF broadcasting the final. However, there are two exceptions: ORF will show two consecutive race weekends with Monaco and Barcelona, and ServusTV will do the same with Zandvoort and Monza.

On ORF, Ernst Hausleitner and former Formula 1 driver Alexander Wurz will comment as usual in 2026. On ServusTV, Andreas Gröbl comments and Andrea Schlager moderates. The broadcaster can draw on experts such as Philipp Eng, Christian Klien, Mathias Lauda, or Philipp Brändle.
The TV Situation of Formula 1 in Switzerland
Swiss television usually broadcasts only qualifying and the race live, and this will remain the case for 2026. This means: Oliver Sittler comments together with former Formula 1 driver Marc Surer and former DTM driver Nico Müller.
Which Livestreams are Offered for the 2026 Formula 1 Season?
Many illegal livestreams are offered on the internet. However, at this point, we naturally refer exclusively to legal offers and subscriptions. The Formula 1 Drivers 2026
Nico Hülkenberg (Audi) remains the only German Formula 1 driver. Arvid Lindblad (Racing Bulls) is the only new rookie. Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez will make their Formula 1 comeback as regular drivers for Cadillac after a year’s break each.
What Changes are There for the 2026 Formula 1 Season?
