(Motorsport-Total.com) – Kimi Antonelli’s record hunt continued in Monaco over the weekend. With his victory in the Principality, the just 19-year-old became the first teenager in Formula 1 history to win the traditional race on the streets of Monte Carlo.

In addition, Antonelli secured his fifth consecutive Grand Prix victory in Monaco, following his triumphs in China, Japan, Miami, and Canada. With this, the current championship leader achieved something that numerous legends of the sport have failed to do.
Because in the history of Formula 1, there were previously only nine drivers who achieved at least five Grand Prix victories in a row. Antonelli became the tenth on Sunday and is thus already on par with record world champion Lewis Hamilton in this regard.
Although the Briton, with currently 105 victories, is the most successful Formula 1 driver in history, he never achieved more than five consecutive victories in his career. Next weekend in Barcelona, Antonelli could even surpass Hamilton with another triumph.
Even more exciting is the list of world champions who never managed to win five Grands Prix in a row. For example, the longest winning streaks of Ayrton Senna, Alain Prost, or Fernando Alonso each ended at four races.
The longest winning streaks in Formula 1

Jochen Rindt, Damon Hill, and Jenson Button also never won more than four Grands Prix consecutively, and the longest streaks of Juan Manuel Fangio, Niki Lauda, Mika Häkkinen, or Jackie Stewart each comprise “only” three victories.

These comparisons are not entirely fair, as today’s Formula 1 cars are much more reliable than in the past. However, it was already possible to become a serial winner in the first decades of the premier class.
In the 1960s, Jim Clark and Jack Brabham each won five races in a row, and already in the 1952 and 1953 seasons, Alberto Ascari triumphed seven times in a row across seasons, which was a record in Formula 1 for many decades.
To achieve the longest winning streak ever, however, Antonelli would have to win five more times from now on. Sebastian Vettel held the record for ten years after achieving nine consecutive victories in the 2013 season.
This record was only broken by Max Verstappen in 2023. He won ten times in a row, which is still the record today. Antonelli would therefore also have to win in Barcelona, Spielberg, Silverstone, Spa, and Budapest to equal this streak.
