(Motorsport-Total.com) – According to information from Motorsport-Total.com, Cadillac is eyeing Formula 2 driver Rafael Camara for the upcoming season. Although a fixed driver pairing for 2027 was actually already planned, Camara is currently one of the hottest talents in junior formulas.

Since the race weekend in Monaco, Camara has won two races and secured four pole positions. Consequently, the Ferrari junior is in third position in the driver standings before the weekend in Hungary. Furthermore, Camara was able to win the Formula 3 championship last year.
Besides Cadillac, Haas also has great interest in the 21-year-old. In addition, Camara had the chance to test a Formula 1 car for Ferrari for the first time a few weeks ago.
While the Formula 1 newcomer for 2027 plans with Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez, Haas still lacks official confirmation for next year’s driver line-up. So far, we only know that Oliver Bearman is also expected to compete for the North Carolina-based team next year.
At the end of August, Camara is scheduled to test for Haas in Portimao alongside Leonardo Fornaroli. This session could serve as a kind of shootout to determine who will be in the cockpit alongside Bearman in 2027. The current Formula 2 driver has not yet tested for either Haas or Cadillac.

In his rookie season, the Formula 3 champion is proving more convincing than Colton Herta, who is officially supported by Cadillac. Before the race weekend at the Hungaroring, the former IndyCar driver is in 16th place in the Formula 2 championship. This means he would still be six Super License points short of competing in Formula 1.
Through the free practice sessions, in which Grand Prix teams must provide a cockpit to young drivers like Herta, Fornaroli, or Camara, Herta can gain a maximum of four points this year.
Furthermore, the 26-year-old is not necessarily impressing in his rookie season. His racing team Hitech managed to secure second place in the team standings last season. This year, only an eighth place has been recorded so far.
