The initiative came from Lewis Hamilton, Nicolas Hamilton explained on social media: “Lewis called me and offered it to me. So I flew to Fiorano and was the first to get into the car. I could hardly believe it!”
Over the years, Nicolas Hamilton had repeatedly come into contact with Formula 1 – but never as intensely as in this case. It was a “completely surreal feeling” to take a seat in the Ferrari three-seater, “right behind Lewis’ right shoulder,” said Nicolas Hamilton. Lewis Hamilton captured the moment in a short social video.
And then it went out onto the Ferrari test track. According to his own statements, Nicolas Hamilton was “simply overwhelmed by the sound and speed” of the vehicle, which is technically mostly from 2005 and powered by a V10 engine. The Ferrari three-seater reaches speeds of up to 300 km/h.

Nicolas Hamilton felt like a “proud brother”
But much more than the rush of speed, Nicolas Hamilton felt a deep connection to Lewis Hamilton: He was a “proud brother” during the ride and “just watched how Lewis drove.”
“After being part of his career for 34 years, after being at every racetrack as a child, from karting to Formula 1, I was finally able to experience for myself what all the hard work was worth and what it feels like to be him.”
“Lewis is my brother, but I am also his biggest fan – and always impressed by his talent. I was chauffeured by the best driver of this generation. What an honor and what a privilege,” said Nicolas Hamilton. “It was a day and a moment I will never forget.”
