(Motorsport-Total.com) – Even though Oliver Bearman is considered a future Ferrari driver, one thing is certain: he will not move from Haas to the Scuderia in 2027. Because Ferrari has already firmly filled both of its cockpits. Charles Leclerc extended his contract prematurely last week, and a retirement from Lewis Hamilton also seems more than unlikely after the strong start to the season.

But Bearman himself says that he is “not disappointed” and “not sad” that the dream of Ferrari will not come true next year. “It’s part of my journey, I enjoy working with Haas incredibly much and I wouldn’t see it as a bad thing to stay with Haas in 2027 as well,” said the 21-year-old.
“I think it’s a great opportunity, the team is on a fantastic upward trend and I really enjoy the journey we are on together.”
The contract durations of current Formula 1 drivers

Bearman had a strong start to the season with the American team and was even temporarily in fifth place in the drivers’ championship after the second race of the season in China. Since then, however, only one more point has been added over four weekends, so Bearman is “only” in eleventh place.
Nevertheless, Haas is very satisfied with the work of its youngster, who has mostly kept teammate Esteban Ocon in check so far and whose Formula 1 future is in question.

There seem to be no questions about Bearman’s future then, because Ferrari could continue to park him with its customer team in 2027, right? “I think they should ask Fred that question,” Haas team principal Ayao Komatsu waves off, referring to his Ferrari counterpart Frederic Vasseur.
Because whether Bearman will stay with Haas also depends on Ferrari. Therefore, the Englishman himself does not want to commit yet whether he will be 100 percent with Haas next season. “I didn’t say that,” he emphasizes when asked if his statements would indicate a definitive stay. “I don’t know.”
He himself could live with that, even if he still has to watch his peers like Kimi Antonelli and Isack Hadjar compete for victories and podiums – and in Antonelli’s case, even for the world championship.
Bearman is convinced that he could achieve similar things at Ferrari: “I know I have what it takes,” he says confidently. “And when you see someone like Kimi or Isack, my age, from my generation, driving at the front, that’s also a confirmation for myself, because I raced against them in Formula 4, Formula 3 and Formula 2.”
