Possible Sequel to "F1: The Movie" - Cameo Appearance by Zak Brown?

The film was released in cinemas in June 2025 and grossed more than 630 million US dollars worldwide. The main roles were played by Brad Pitt and Damson Idris. The film was directed by Joseph Kosinski and produced by Jerry Bruckheimer.

Realistic filming in the Formula 1 environment

Seven-time Formula 1 world champion Lewis Hamilton was involved as an executive producer and helped give the film a realistic appearance despite Hollywood elements. Filming took place, among other things, at real race weekends, so drivers and team members from the 2023 and 2024 seasons can also be seen in the film.

“It was cool. Brad then went and drove our Formula 1 car and did a very good job, so that was really cool,” Brown explained during a discussion with Formula 1 presenter Lawrence Barretto at the Autosport Business Exchange Miami. “He was very humble and was overwhelmed by Formula 1.”

After filming was completed, Pitt also had the opportunity to drive a McLaren Formula 1 car at the Circuit of The Americas, the venue of the US Grand Prix in Austin.

Possible sequel and cameo option

“I thought the film was great, and a sequel is in the works,” Brown continued. “And I think all of this just helps to gain more fans for our sport. It’s the same producers and directors as Top Gun.”

“I remember Top Gun, everyone wanted to become a fighter pilot and be Tom Cruise. So I think it’s similar. Having Brad Pitt in a Formula 1 film is just very beneficial for our sport. It was a huge success, and I look forward to the next part.”

When asked if he would consider a cameo appearance in the sequel himself, Brown replied: “I am happy to do anything I am asked to help bring our sport closer to the fans.”
