The Briton prevailed after a strategically strong performance with a three-stop strategy and relegated George Russell to second place. Lando Norris completed the podium in third place.
After the race, former Formula 1 World Champion Jacques Villeneuve spoke critically about the possible development within the team. According to Villeneuve, especially the dynamic between Hamilton and his teammate Charles Leclerc could cause tensions if the current form curve continues.
Villeneuve says to Sky: “Now you can see that things can go wrong, the pace is there, so it doesn’t take much.”
Internal dynamics at Ferrari in focus
Looking at the internal situation at Ferrari, he adds: “Internally at Ferrari, they only extended [Leclerc’s contract] two races ago. For what, the best contract ever? A lifetime contract?”

“But who actually scores the points? Who drives forward? Lewis. That will cause problems internally,” Villeneuve suspects.
Leclerc himself experienced a disappointing race in Barcelona. After technical problems with the power steering, the Monegasque had to retire in the final phase and remained without points.
Hamilton (115 points), on the other hand, has further positioned himself in the title fight with his victory and is third in the drivers’ standings behind the leader Kimi Antonelli (156 points), but ahead of George Russell (106 points). Leclerc currently holds fourth place in the overall standings. There are now 40 points between the two Ferrari drivers.
The next race weekend will take place at the end of June in Spielberg, where Ferrari wants to confirm the positive development and avoid possible internal tensions.
