To answer these questions, our editors have been closely monitoring the weather at the Formula 1 venues several days before the start of tests or race weekends. During the event, this preview article is updated with new weather details such as temperature in degrees Celsius, wind strength, cloud cover, and expected precipitation for each day of the weekend.
The result is as precise a weather forecast as possible for the respective Grands Prix of the 2026 Formula 1 season. However, all information is without guarantee, as some motorsport locations like Spa-Francorchamps or the Nürburgring are known for particularly changeable weather that cannot always be predicted accurately. Precipitation can also occur there unexpectedly.

1st Practice (1:30-2:30 PM)
At the start of Formula 1 practice in Hungary, it will be cloudy. There is a slight chance of rain. Temperatures will be around 24 degrees Celsius. The wind blows on average at 17 km/h from the northwest onto the track, which means headwind exiting turn 4 and tailwind in the final corner. Gusts can reach over 40 km/h.
2nd Practice (5:00-6:00 PM)
During the afternoon, the clouds will almost completely clear. At 22 degrees, it will be sunny for the second session of the day. The wind will ease somewhat: averaging 14 km/h, with gusts up to 40 km/h.

3rd Practice (12:30-1:30 PM)
On Saturday, temperatures will rise to up to 28 degrees Celsius. Although some clouds will return, no rain is expected. The wind is significantly weaker than on Friday, averaging eight km/h, and now blows from the southwest onto the track. This results in tailwind on the straight up to turn 4 and headwind on the straight before turn 12.
Qualifying (from 4 PM)
The weather remains stable for qualifying: 28 degrees, many clouds, no rain. The wind decreases to an average of five km/h. Gusts up to 30 km/h are possible. The wind comes from the south, providing tailwind in turn 2 and headwind exiting the final corner.

Grand Prix (start at 3 PM)
Rain showers are expected throughout Sunday. However, forecasts mainly indicate heavy rain in the evening, after Formula 1 has already completed its race. But it can also get wet in the afternoon. The sky over Budapest will be constantly overcast, with temperatures reaching up to 28 degrees Celsius.
The wind shifts again and for the first time during the weekend blows from northeast to east onto the track, averaging eight km/h with gusts up to 35 km/h. This means mostly crosswind and headwind exiting the first corner.

First forecasts for the Formula 1 race in Zandvoort
August is the warmest month in the Zandvoort region. Average daytime temperatures are just above 20 degrees Celsius. Despite more than six hours of sunshine per day, there is a high probability of rain: statistically, it rains every other day during summer on the North Sea coast.
