(Motorsport-Total.com) – Pirelli held a two-day tire test at the Hungaroring on Tuesday and Wednesday. Following the Formula 1 weekend in Budapest, three teams remained at the track to support the tire manufacturer in evaluating its tires.

Audi and Alpine sent their regular drivers Gabriel Bortoleto and Franco Colapinto onto the track, while Aston Martin had reserve driver Jak Crawford behind the wheel – but only on Tuesday.
During the first day, the three drivers completed a series of comparison runs with different C3 tire options, followed by long runs that allowed an assessment of the performance and wear characteristics of the most promising variants.
Colapinto and Bortoleto also evaluated several C4 and C5 compound variants as part of qualifying simulations and stints with a higher number of laps.
The fastest time on Tuesday went to Colapinto, whose quickest of a total of 128 laps was 1:20.371 minutes. Bortoleto completed 141 laps, the fastest of which was 1:20.813 minutes. Crawford also completed 136 laps but was about four seconds slower than Colapinto.

For comparison: Lando Norris’s pole time over the weekend was 1:17.207 minutes.
On the second day, only Colapinto and Bortoleto were in action, evaluating various compounds of C3, C4, and C5, both with qualifying runs and long runs of up to 16 laps.
Colapinto set his best time of the day with a lap of 1:20.139 minutes and completed 139 laps for a total of 609 kilometers. Bortoleto’s fastest lap was 1:19.917 minutes after completing 116 laps and 508 kilometers. A total of 660 laps were completed over the two test days, corresponding to 2,892 kilometers.
The next development tests for Pirelli dry tires are scheduled for August 26 and 27 at the Mugello International Circuit.
