(Motorsport-Total.com) – According to Helmut Marko, Max Verstappen should also compete for Red Bull in the 2027 Formula 1 season. In an interview with Sport Bild, the long-time motorsport consultant of the Bulls explains that the Dutchman should not leave the racing team.

“It would be best for both sides if they continued to cooperate,” says Marko and reveals: “I believe that they are on a good path. It would be good if this is communicated soon. Max is not just a driver, he is the figurehead of the racing team.”
He is “occasionally” still in contact with Verstappen, and “of course” they also talk about Formula 1, reveals Marko, who left the Bulls at the end of the 2025 season. “My heart still beats for Red Bull,” emphasizes the 83-year-old.
“The start was not easy for them, but the team is gaining momentum. That pleases me because it is also important for the future,” says Marko, who also reveals: “I am very impressed by how good [Isack] Hadjar is in qualifying. He was three times faster than Max. That deserves respect.”

“But now he has to get better in the races, manage the tires. Otherwise, I also like Arvid Lindblad,” reveals Marko, who emphasizes: “Lindblad is having a great first Formula 1 season. He shows that he has great potential.”

“The same applies to Nikola Tsolov,” says Marko about the current leader in Formula 2 and explains: “I also believe he has a great future. He is doing very well. I think he can succeed in Formula 1 and will bring a lot of joy to Red Bull.”
According to him, no cockpit will become available for the Bulls in the A-Team anytime soon. Verstappen still has a contract with Red Bull until the end of 2028, and according to Marko, the best solution for both parties would be if the four-time world champion fulfills it.
Recently, there have been repeated rumors that Verstappen might leave the team as early as next year.
