Streak Broken
With Lewis Hamilton’s triumph yesterday, Mercedes’ winning streak also ended after six races. The Silver Arrows clearly missed the absolute record. More on this in this photo series:
Formula 1 Teams with at least five wins at the start of the season

Vasseur: Approach Does Not Change
The Ferrari team principal is not keen on talking about possible championship chances yet. Two weeks ago, everything was “a disaster,” “and now we’re talking about the world championship,” he dismisses.
Vasseur therefore once again calls for moderation. He doesn’t want to think about the world title yet. “That’s the worst approach I could choose,” he clarifies.
“The approach is to go to Austria with exactly the same mindset I had in Barcelona, and not to think about the championship or imagine how I could achieve another 25 wins,” says Vasseur.
So, like Hamilton, he also wants to take it race by race.
Sainz: New Rules Helped Hamilton
The Spaniard explains that Hamilton deserves “great praise for how he turned the situation from last year to this year for the better.” As a reminder: Hamilton took over Sainz’s cockpit at Ferrari in 2025.
In his first year with the Scuderia, however, he never really got going, and Sainz explains: “This shows that this sport needs to be explained properly. People need to understand a bit better how it all works, because switching to another team is not easy.”
Hamilton first had to get used to the Ferrari. Sainz also emphasizes: “He also benefited from the rule change, because if he had had to drive the car from last year for three more years, we might not be seeing the Lewis we are experiencing this season.”
Hadjar Explains Bad Start
Isack Hadjar lost many positions at the start yesterday – once again. It wasn’t Red Bull’s first start problem this year. “I stalled twice, which has never happened to me all season,” he reports.
“We have to fix these problems because the procedure is far too complicated. I’m not a computer, I’m not a machine, I can’t work with 0.0001 percent accuracy. That doesn’t work,” says Hadjar.
This means: For the starts to work, the Red Bull drivers have to hit a minimal window. And according to Hadjar, that’s almost impossible.

McLaren Announces Further Updates
In Barcelona, McLaren had to give way to Mercedes and Ferrari. Team Principal Andrea Stella explains: “We want to further develop our car in the upcoming races with some upgrades.”
He is sure, however, “at the same time sure that our competitors will also make some improvements,” says Stella, who nevertheless emphasizes: “We want to go our own way.”
“We want to make sure that we improve our car from race to race,” he emphasizes and explains: “Currently, our focus is entirely on internal aspects – on what we need to do to improve the car.”
They are not paying too much attention to the competitors.
Fastest Lap
By the way, Lewis Hamilton not only won the race yesterday, he also drove the fastest lap. You can watch it again completely in the video here:
Rosberg: Victory Will Drive Hamilton
Lewis Hamilton’s ex-teammate Nico Rosberg can imagine that the record world champion will become even stronger after his first Ferrari victory.
He explains on Sky: “When you achieve positive results, you become more motivated, happier, and work even harder. That will push him further forward together with his team.”
“So there’s incredible momentum there at the moment,” says Rosberg, who describes Hamilton’s victory yesterday as “historic” and “spectacular.”
And maybe it’s just the beginning…
