Russell also wins in driver ratings
Our big final rating evaluation is now online as well. Just like in the real race, George Russell prevailed over Max Verstappen there too. However, there is a surprise on the “podium”.

Spielberg: The driver ratings by Marc Surer and the editorial team
Williams: Everything was bad in Spielberg
The mood at Williams could be better after another zero score this weekend. As before in Barcelona, Carlos Sainz and Alexander Albon were powerless.
“Hopefully that was the last of these really bad weekends where everything just went wrong,” says Sainz, explaining that there were shortcomings everywhere.
“Ultimately, we lack reliability, we lack pace, and we don’t have a car with which we can score points. So we have to wait and see if the situation improves in Silverstone,” says Sainz.
There should at least be minor updates for the FW48 there. But Albon already makes it clear: “It won’t get us into the midfield, but maybe it will bring us closer to Haas.”
That would still leave them far from the points positions. Only after the summer break is a significantly better B-version of the car expected.

Hamilton wonders about ADUO
Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton agree on the topic of ADUO. Because at Red Bull, they believe they do not have the best engine. And the record world champion sees it the same way.
“Mercedes undoubtedly has the best power unit,” says Hamilton, “and I don’t know how ADUO could come to the opposite result.”
“At the end of the straight, they have a lot of power. Much more than everyone else this weekend. I don’t know where that comes from,” Hamilton ponders.
“Is it because of the battery or because we have the smaller turbo? I’m not sure yet,” says the Brit. For ADUO, however, only the combustion engine plays a role.
Montoya: Hamilton hasn’t forgotten 2021
Juan Pablo Montoya also commented as an expert on yesterday’s duel between Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton. On F1 TV he says: “I think the racing was really good.”
“I think sometimes people forget what happened before between Max and Lewis. But Lewis doesn’t forget,” he says referring to their title fight in 2021.
As a driver, you don’t forget something like that, “and if you can pay him back, you do it with all your might. And that’s exactly what we saw today,” Montoya suspects.

Russell: Had to drive “abnormally” in Spielberg
Yesterday’s win was no walk in the park for George Russell. He himself reveals regarding his driving style: “Maybe my previous approach would have really hurt me on a track like this.”
“I drove the race quite differently and, to be honest, pretty abnormally to save the tires, and that worked quite well,” he reports and admits that the tires are still a question mark for him.
“Last year I knew how to handle the tires on hot and cold tracks as well as on smooth and rough surfaces. And this year, honestly, I don’t know. So I’m working on rebuilding that,” says Russell.
Spielberg was probably a step in the right direction.

Hamilton on Verstappen duel
Earlier, we watched the duel of the two world champions again in the video. Verstappen called for a penalty for Hamilton on the radio because he once felt pushed off by his old rival.
Hamilton himself says about the situation: “You don’t expect to be able to overtake a champion on the outside. I didn’t expect to overtake him there on the outside and hold the line.”
“He was behind at the apex and therefore should have backed off. I left him just enough space,” emphasizes Hamilton. The race stewards saw it the same way, so there was no penalty.
