Formula 3: Victory from Pole
We already talked yesterday about how important pole position is in Barcelona. In fact, the Formula 1 race has only once since 2014 not been won from the front row. That was in 2016, when Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg knocked each other out.
In Formula 3, this has just been confirmed once again. In the main race there, Theophile Nael won, having also started from pole. In the championship, the Frenchman thus jumps to P2 behind ex-McLaren junior Ugo Ugochukwu.

Tires in Focus
There has been a lot of talk about tires all weekend. In qualifying, performance already dropped massively after one fast lap, and management will also play an important role in the race.
Pirelli’s Motorsport Director Dario Marrafuschi explains: “The expected strategies foresee at least two pit stops.” The most likely scenario is starting on mediums and then switching to hard tires.
A start on softs is also possible, followed by a strategy using all three tire compounds. And Marrafuschi does not even rule out a three-stop strategy.
“However, given the traffic and the need to overtake, it is unlikely that many teams will commit to this in advance,” he emphasizes regarding three stops.

Direct Comparison
George Russell will start from pole later. Yesterday in qualifying, however, he was only 0.064 seconds faster than Lewis Hamilton. You can see exactly where he gained the time in the direct comparison here:
