Weather
By the way: The Formula 3 race took place in dry conditions and sunshine. It is expected to remain that way all day. So, drivers further back in the field should not hope for rain today.

Formula 3: Victory from Pole
We already talked yesterday about how important pole position is in Barcelona. In fact, the Formula 1 race has only been won from outside the front row once since 2014. That was in 2016, when Lewis Hamilton and Nico Rosberg took each other out.
In Formula 3, this has just been confirmed once again. In the main race there, Theophile Nael, who also started from pole, prevailed. In the championship, the Frenchman thus jumps to P2 behind ex-McLaren junior Ugo Ugochukwu.
Livestream
If you need to catch up on the latest before the race this afternoon, I recommend our comprehensive video analysis of the qualifying in Barcelona.
Also today, we will be back in the evening with a livestream on the Formel1.de YouTube channel for you. It starts at 10:00 PM – and with a special guest!
Tires in Focus
Tires have been a major topic of discussion all weekend. In qualifying, performance dropped significantly after just one fast lap, and management will also play an important role in the race.
Pirelli Motorsport Director Dario Marrafuschi explains: “The expected strategies foresee at least two pit stops.” The most likely scenario is starting on mediums and then switching to hard tires.
A start on softs and then a strategy using all three tire compounds is also possible. And Marrafuschi does not even rule out a three-stop strategy.
“However, given the traffic and the need to overtake, it is unlikely that many teams will commit to it in advance,” he emphasizes regarding three stops.

Direct Comparison
George Russell will start from pole later. Yesterday in qualifying, however, he was only 0.064 seconds faster than Lewis Hamilton. You can see exactly where he gained the time in this direct comparison:
