Stroll: There is absolutely no grip

The Canadian describes his impressions of the track on Sky: “No grip. It is difficult. In cold and rain it is so hard to bring these tires to operating temperature.”

“You just can’t get the tires into the optimal temperature range. That will be the challenge: to find some grip out there,” says Stroll. This also applies to the slicks.

Everyone on the grid

Slicks are the tires of choice. Although some drivers tried the intermediates, in the end everyone drove onto the starting grid on dry tires.

So if there is no further rain shower, it looks like a start on slicks. It starts in 30 minutes.

Drivers test tires

Verstappen first had intermediates on, but has now come back to the pits to get slicks for another test lap. That is allowed. The drivers do not have to go immediately to the starting grid.

Pit lane open

40 minutes to the start and now the pit lane opens in Montreal. The drivers now have ten minutes to make their way to the starting grid.

Important info: Some drivers go out on slicks, others on intermediates. Exciting!

Strong wind

Not only possible rain could play a role today – but also the wind. It blows from the same direction as the previous days, but significantly stronger.

“It is very windy, with strong gusts, especially in turn 1,” reports expert Jamie Chadwick on Sky and emphasizes: “Even if it is dry, it will be a very demanding race.”

Light rain

It is still drizzling in Montreal. The colleagues on site say, however, that you would probably still start on slicks because the track is (still) not wet enough for intermediates.

It starts in just over an hour.
