Because especially in qualifying, it becomes clear who gets more out of the material: With soft tires on the car and little fuel in the tank, the absolute fastest laps on a Grand Prix race weekend are possible. Qualifying is therefore also considered the true king discipline in motorsport. It becomes clear who is really fast – and who is not.
