(Motorsport-Total.com) – A unique Formula 1 helmet, created in collaboration with Disney and signed by 20 drivers from the 2026 field, has broken auction records for Make-A-Wish-International. The proceeds amounted to an astonishing 151,000 British pounds – approximately 175,000 euros.

The custom-made one-off named “Fuel the Magic” was auctioned via the F1 Authentics platform, operated by Memento Exclusives. The winning bid of 151,000 pounds officially represents the highest publicly recorded sale price ever for a replica of a Formula 1 helmet not worn in a race at an auction.

Furthermore, the amount sets a new record for a single charity item ever sold through F1 Authentics. The previous record was held by Max Verstappen with his original racing suit from the 2023 Canadian Grand Prix, which was auctioned for 112,000 pounds (around 130,000 euros) at the time.

For a good cause

The proceeds from the sale of the Fuel the Magic helmet go directly to Make-A-Wish-International to fulfill life-changing wishes for seriously ill children.

The collectible was designed by Bret Iwan, the official voice actor of Mickey Mouse, together with Bobby Kim, Disney’s Global Creative Director. On an elegant matte black base, the design features red and yellow accents as well as Mickey Mouse graphics.

“We are very pleased to have raised this significant amount for Make-A-Wish,” explains Barry Gough, Managing Director of Memento Exclusives.

Helmet will be exhibited

“That Disney and Formula 1 entrusted us with such an important task as auctioning the Fuel the Magic helmet makes us incredibly proud. We are thrilled that the item has sparked the imagination of bidders worldwide and that the winner has not only secured an iconic keepsake but also made a huge contribution to a very worthy cause.”

Fans who missed out at the auction can still admire the design up close: A second, identical helmet is to be publicly exhibited from August 14 to 16 at the event “D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event” in Anaheim, California.
